Dialects- They can be scary! And for me, quite vulnerable. There is something about taking on a new sound- much like a language that makes you feel like a child learning to walk again. I have tried multiple coaches- LIKE MANY!- paid ridiculous prices for "industry professionals" and no results. They couldn't understand my sound and thus could not teach me another.
Jack in one lesson not only grasped my sound but also figured out what physical things I needed to do with my mouth to shift the sounds to an American dialect. His attention to detail is unparalleled. And yes it is still vulnerable but Jack's demeanor of not taking himself too seriously makes the feeling of feeling silly more comfortable. His exercises are playful, fun but most importantly PRACTICAL. You learn outside of his class because he gives you tools to continue your learning. This is the mark of an outstanding teacher, one who empowers you to learn beyond their classroom. I would recommend Jack to anyone in a heart beat. I am feeling way more confident about my general American dialect and look forward to polishing a few more dialects with him!
